Description: Gall bladder and stones, jaundice, liver congestion, malaria, anti-depressant, respiratory tract, and heart and circulatory system; to reduce fever; as a 'blood purifier;' and for narcotic withdrawal. Barberry root bark is also used for liver problems, gallbladder disease, spleen disorders, diarrhea, indigestion, hemorrhoids, kidney and urinary tract diseases, gout, joint pain (rheumatism), arthritis, mid- and low-back pain, correcting irregularities in menstrual periods, anemia, as well as treating vaginitis, malaria, and a parasitic infection called leishmaniasis.
Directions: The recommended amount of drops, in 30 to 50 ml cold (or hot to evaporate alcohol) tea, water or juice, before meals: Normally 3 times per day, otherwise acute can be, 2 HRLY.
Adults and children over 12 years: 20 Drops
Children 6 to 12 years: 15 Drops
Children 3 to 6 years: 10 Drops.
Contraindications: barberry contains a chemical called berberine. Berberine might slow blood clotting and increase the risk of bleeding, so should not be used with blood thinners or before surgery. Barberry should not be used on babies pregnant and breastfeeding women, unless specifically indicated for, or recommended by a qualified herbalist or health care practitioner. Berberine might lower blood sugar levels so diabetics should watch for signs of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) and monitor your blood sugar carefully if you have diabetes. Do not exceed recommended dosages unless on the advice of a healthcare practitioner. Do not use this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
